Safer

Day One hundred two: We can drive a little more safely now.

We had two new tires put on today. It has been needed for a while, but I was waiting for us to have the money available. So we kept putting it off. We decided to stop today. We really couldn't wait anymore unless we were willing to accept the consequences...like a tire blowout during one of our trips. Personally, I'm not interested in having that experience just Ariel and myself while Jason is on one of his many trips. Didn't sound like fun.

We still didn't have the money though (at least not spendable cash on hand) and I hate the idea of using our credit card like cash...even if it is important. Then Jason figured it out! We have an emergency fund now. This seems like it might be the kind of thing we can use it for.

We have to drive. We need to keep our car safe if we are going to drive. It is part of keeping our family safe. Tires are necessary. So today we got two new tires. Yay! The riding experience in our car is dramatically different. Yes, they were that bad.

Thank you, God, for making it possible for us to have an emergency fund. Thank you for giving us the wisdom to set money aside for such a time as this. Thank you for giving us the wisdom to think before we spend, but to also weigh the consequences of doing without. Thank you, God, for taking care of my family and me.

Edit: I know this isn't the intended use of "emergency fund" money. I should budget for tires (and I thought I had, kinda). Other things and lack of perfect discipline caused difficulties in this area.

What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
