VCR

Day Ninety-eight: All day long I have been trying to load a super cute video of Ariel. Technology is not cooperating. Frustrating. So. No video. Maybe later. I'll keep trying.

We went out tonight and weren't sure we were going to be home in time to see Lost. In case you have been living under a rock (or just don't care), it's the last few episodes of the show. Very intense stuff and we don't want to miss anything. Our solution was to video tape it. Yes, video tape in on a video cassette with a vcr. We still have one in the house and even a few tapes. We don't really use it, but on nights like tonight it comes in handy.

My sister and her husband gave it to me as a graduation gift in 2000. It is a small tv with a built in vcr. I was pretty excited about this gift. It came in handy through college.

It came in handy tonight. We got to watch Lost. Old technology worked. I haven't loaded my video. New technology failed.

Thank you, God, for my sister and brother-in-law.

Not because they gave me a tv and it let us watch Lost tonight...though that is pretty cool. I am thankful that they are in our lives. They love our family. They are good to us and care deeply for us. They are an amazing example of living generously. I cannot think of a situation where a person needed something and they didn't try to help out. There are even more times when there wasn't a specific need, but they took the initiative to meet a want or a desire just for the sake of kindness and happiness. They have great compassion for people in need. My sister cannot drive by a car accident without praying for the people involved and often asking others to lift up prayers as well. There is seldom a time when anyone is sick, even with a cold, in our family and my sister and brother-in-law don't go out of their way to bring comfort. I still have teddy bears they sent me when I was in college from just such occasions.

Thank you for Tab and Mat. Thank you for teaching them how to truly love. Thank you for the example they are for Ariel. Thank you for putting us in a family together.

Incidentally, I just remembered tomorrow is Tab's birthday. Happy Birthday, Sis! Love you.

What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
