Soft and Cuddly

Day Thirty-four: I love texture. The baby showers that we were given for Ariel were a kind of bliss for me. Tons of different kinds of soft, cushy things for our baby girl. She was given stuffed animals and blankets and sleepers and slippers and hats. And of course more blankets and more blankets. I loved it. I never before realized how important touch is to me. Each different material was so special and wonderful. There were satin bits, oh so soft furry animals, velvets and velour and microfleece, hand made blankets of baby wool, brushed cotton tshirts. Bliss. I remember taking each soft-isn't-a-strong-enough-descriptive-word item and passing it around the room for everyone to see how amazing it felt. They laughed at me, but most agreed. These textures were perfect for our perfect baby girl.

Those perfect gifts were nothing compared to our girl though. She was and still is the epitome of soft. I love her skin, her little rolls, her velvet newborn head (she's finally getting hair - she hasn't been velvety for a while now), her truly baby-fine hair.

Thank you God for all our senses, but right now I am especially grateful for touch. The sensors in my fingertips alone amaze me. Literally stop me in my tracks. Once again I find myself in awe of Your attention to detail in Your creation. Thank you for pleasant textures and the ability to appreciate them. It's a little thing when considering baby gifts, but in reality the sense of touch is so much more. Thank you.

What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
