Real Snow

Day Thirty-nine: It snowed today. It has snowed a lot over the past few weeks, but this was real snow. This snow wasn't deep. It didn't last long. But is was real. It was the fluffy kind. The kind that gets picked up by the wind. The kind that you want to eat. The kind that makes snowballs. The kind that makes snowmen (and women). Real snow.

I got up this morning and did my morning thing. Jason and Ariel slept in. When they got up, we dressed up all warm with too many layers to walk in according to Ariel. She fell over and cried when I was putting her boots on. We changed her boots.

She liked looking at the snow out the window. When we got outside, she was a little stunned. She just stood in one spot for a while watching the dogs and her daddy. Eventually, she walked around with me and giggled at the snow crunching under her feet. After a while, she got brave and walked around the back yard all by herself. She really enjoyed watching me make snowballs to throw for Halie. Halie caught them in her mouth. We went inside after Halie dove at Ariel to catch a snowball. Ariel wasn't thrilled with Halie forcibly knocking her flat on her back in the snow. (Ariel's daddy wasn't very happy about this either - Halie knows this too.)

We made a snowgirl with pigtails. She kinda looked like a snowdog cause of her pinecone nose/snout. Ariel held her hand a couple times since she was wearing pink gloves.

Ariel tasted the snow a few times in secret. She refused to lick it out of my hands or even catch it with her tongue falling from the sky...as least when I was looking. Our of the corner of my eye, I caught her getting quick tongue-tastes a few times when no one was nearby.

Thank you, God, for good, fluffy snow. Thanks for giving me a family to play in the snow with. Thank you for our two dogs who love to play and make us smile with their antics and the snow caught in their beards. Thank you for our snowgirl with dogfood for eyes and a pinecone nose. Thank you so much for a peaceful, relaxing, fun day with my family. My cup overflows.

Pictures from our snow fun are coming soon.

What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
