Day Twenty-six: Tonight we drove home, from Wilson to Elizabeth City, in the remnants of the snow. It went very well. We saw a couple cars that has run off the road (way before we got there). We slid a few times on icey patches. Nothing dramatic at all. Very few cars were on the road and the main highways were excellently cleared. We even made pretty good time.
When were were in Wilson, I was surprised that the roads were not cleared of the snow at all. I guess I expected our whole ride to be like that and when it wasn't I was happy. I celebrated the Elizabeth City road crew (whomever that is) for the clearing of even less than major roads. Of course, the road we live on wasn't cleared, but no one expected such silliness - we're lucky when our road gets paving attention.
Thank you, God, for people who work clearing roads. I imagine it is a thankless job and often the hard work that is done is considered "not enough". Thank you for giving us safety and protection as we drove home. Please bring comfort and healing to those who did not have such an easy drive in all the ice. Thank you for this weekend with the snow and time with family. We are blessed beyond measure.
What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
