Day Forty-six: While Jason and I were at Launch, Ariel stayed with my mom. This was Ariel's second overnight trip...the last one was when she was 6 weeks old. I was okay with leaving her...until I was about to leave. The last 15 minutes I just wanted her to let me hold her, but she wasn't interested. I didn't even get pats on my back. Oh well. Anyhow, I went on the trip - which was great - and then I came back the next day.
Mom said everything went smoothly. She said Ariel missed me a little bit. There were a couple times that the dogs barked at the door like someone was coming home and Ariel got upset when no one was actually there. She also called for me a few times and seemed a little upset that I didn't show up. Sweet kid.
Getting home was awesome. She was in her high chair eating dinner (so she couldn't meet me at the door) and as I was putting my stuff down I called her name. She squealed at my voice. She laughed really great gut laughs while she finished her dinner and fed me some of her bread. She thought that was the best thing ever. When she finished, I took her out of her chair for a hug...I got my pats. She followed me around all evening playing. She showed me all the neat things she learned with Gram while I was gone. She went to sleep really smoothly. It was the perfect welcome home.
Thank you, God, for this sweet, perfect little girl. Thank you for her beautiful laugh. Thank you for the way that I love her and just plain adore her. Thank you for the way she welcomed me home this evening.
What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
