Day Seventy-one: We just got home from one of our regular hour long drives. We make these drives at least 2 times a week - two ways. It's become no big deal. It's just what we do. Our house and main jobs are in one city. Our church family is in another city, in another state, an hour away. We really don't mind (most of time).
Yes, if I had my druthers (who says druthers? did I even spell it right?), we wouldn't spend over four hours a week in the car. I look forward to a day when we live all in one place...not that I see that day on the horizon. One day it will happen though, right? We'll be able to host a small group meeting in our house and Jason will be able to drive home from the office in just 10 minutes to be there for it. I can dream.
I am happy with our current situation though. Really. We have good jobs. We have a wonderful, affordable house. We love our church family and involvement there. And we have a car that gets us back and forth the way we need. We bought this car used after I had a car accident, not my fault, 2 years ago this Friday. It was the perfect upgrade. We needed more space so we could travel with two dogs and a baby. We needed a younger, healthier car. We needed an affordable car (blessed insurance money- see, I told you it wasn't my fault). Our car works hard and right now it needs tires, but otherwise it is great. It earns it's keep.
Thank you, God, for a car that can keep up with us and keep us going. Thank you for helping us find this car when we needed and making it possible to buy it. Thank you for financial assistance. Please help us to take care of this car, so it can keep on keeping up with us for years to come. Thank you for our two cities.
What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
