It's Electric!

Day Fifty-five: My parents came to our house this morning. They were delivering our new (used) freezer from my sister and brother-in-law. Yay!!! I am super excited about this. Thanks Mat and Tab!

My dad also came so he can help set it up. Set it up? You may wonder what I mean. Can't you just plug it in? Not at our house. It seems it is always more complicated than that.

I'll try to explain. First, we have a rather small house. We don't have room for the freezer in the house, so it has to go in the shed. Further, the freezer needs electricity and right now the shed runs on electricity from the house...through a bright orange extension cord connected to an outside receptacle. Safe, huh? I'm not comfortable constantly running our freezer (or anything else) on an extension cord, so they are installing (?-insert appropriate word if you know it - maybe hooking up?) electricity in the shed today!!!

I am so thankful that my husband and my father know how to do these kinds of things. I can only imagine how much money we would have to spend to get a professional to come in for this kind of thing or how many things we would just do without because we can't afford a professional.

Thank you, God, for handy-man type skills. Thank you for my husband's and my father's knowledge and willingness to use their skills....and even enjoy doing so. It's nice that there is a sense of accomplishment that accompanies completing a task like this.

What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
