Shout Out Saturday

I've been reading a number of blogs over the last few months and I have loved it. First, I need to thank blogger and google. Blogger lets us have free blogs - thus letting me find amazing free blogs to follow. Not everyone I follow uses blogger, but some do and I do. So I appreciate it. Google Reader is an amazing, easy to use, free tool for keeping up with my favorite blogs all in one place. It also lets me mark my favorites so I can go back easily!

Now, back to those blogs I've been reading. I have decided I want to give them a little credit. These bloggy ladies and gents provide helpful information, a variety of perspectives, creative ideas, yummy meals, encouragement, inspiration, and many, many laughs. Each week I would like to post my favorite reads for the week. Thus the cheesy post title...if you can think of a better one, PLEASE share. :) I just don't want to keep all this good stuff to myself.

My top five favorite posts this week (in no particular order):
1. Create Your Own Menu - I love this blog, but even more this series Tricia is starting. I've read this blog in the past, but have been overwhelmed by the idea of cooking for a whole month. This series she is starting makes it seem truely possible. It gives me a detailed starting place. I might try it in the next couple months - my only hold up is trying to find the time to do the day of cooking (8-12 hrs of cooking with a 14 month old running around?).
2.  101 Ways to Cut Your Spending This Year - This post is amazing! Seriously, check it out. She has separated the ideas by category and linked many of them up with explanations or how-to posts. I have about 5 ideas I want to apply just from reading it once quickly.
3. A Couch is So Much More - This one is just for fun. I thought it was cute. I just found this blog this week. Nothing super informative, just a mom sharing about her family. And enjoying them.
4. Financial Baby Steps - This is nothing new. I just really liked the way Tsh summarized Dave Ramsey's baby steps from Total Money Makeover. I've been saying I want to read this book because of all the great ideas, but I've read so many blog posts about it that I feel like I might be a little bored if I finally got down to reading it. Still I might read it sometime soon. This post made me want to.
5. Chunky Monkey Smoothies - These just sound SO yummy. I haven't even tried it yet, but maybe today when Jason gets home we'll try it out. Yum.

  1. I did the once a month january stuff (with Chris' help) the other night. I didn't finish all the recipes but I got lots of things prepared and in the freezer. We had fun in the kitchen getting all put together while the kiddos were sleeping.

    Did you add google adsense???

  2. I thought you were doing that the other night when your facebook status said something about cooking. I really do want to try it, but since I've already done all the grocery shopping for this month (which will run into about half of next month if things go as usual) I'll probably have to wait till March to really give it a shot.

Yeah, I figured I'd see what kind of difference it made. Doesn't mess things up too bad and this week I made a whole 2 cents!! I was just messing with my blog and thought...why not?
