I'll take the laugh lines

They say (who are they anyway? and why do we trust them?)...they say laughter is good for the soul. I think they are right.

Day Fourteen: I am thankful for laughter. My husband is hilarious. It's one of the big things that attracted me to him and still attracts me to him. Maybe that's silly to you, but to me it great. I can't tell you how many times we have been on the brink (or in the midst) of a big ol' argument when he made a joke and I couldn't keep my composure. I have to laugh. I love to laugh with him. I'd rather let the laugh happen than hold my grudge (even though it drives me crazy sometimes-when I discuss something I do it because it is important to me). And yet I laugh. My dogs make me laugh when they play together or let Ariel "play" with them or try to communicate something to us in their canine ways. Ariel, oh, Ariel makes me laughs too. Her belly laugh makes me laugh, her kisses make me laugh (cause she kisses repeatedly and almost always with her mouth wide open and tongue out and insists that it wasn't a real kiss unless she actually touches your lips), her answers to questions (usually "no") make me laugh, she makes me laugh all day long with the fun she has and the things she does. My friends make me laugh, my family makes me laugh. Books make me laugh...yes, out loud. I like to laugh...and I get to laugh a lot.

Laughter isn't a requirement in life, but, wow, does real, sincere laughter make the joy more palpable. I think fun is a human need and surely laughter qualifies as fun.

Thank you, God, for the ability to laugh. Thank you for giving me (and others) a sense of humor. Thank you for the way is diffuses an argument or a tense situation. Thank you for the way it makes a bad day better. Thank you God for good, hearty belly laughs that come all the way from the toes and little bitty giggles that tinkle like bells. Thank you for filling my life with opportunities for laughter. God...thank you. Really.
