Songs of Praise

Day One hundred thirty nine: Back to real life...sorry I've been absent, but I've been enjoying life and my family. Hopefully, I'll be back to posting regularly this week, but again, no promises. :)

30 day challenge. Day sixteen.
Passage. Psalm 30.
Thoughts. The author points out that memorization of Scripture and singing praises to the Lord can be very effective tools in combating discouragement and even depression. I was reminded that many hymns can powerfully "re-tether" me to God...both my heart and my mind. Singing allows emotional expression and the words in hymns and psalms are deep and thought provoking. It can be an emotional and mental experience.

Thank you, God, for the book of Psalms. Thank you for songs of praise. Thank you for the ability to sing (not necessarily beautifully to others' ears, but I'm sure pleasing to Yours). Thank you for encouraging me to sing my praises to You. You are praiseworthy in everyway and still even in challenging me to praise You bless me by showing me a way to do that blesses me while attempting to bless You.

What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
