The Details

Day One hundred nineteen: Day four of the 30-day challenge focuses on Psalm 103:1-5. The focus for today is recognizing the specific blessings received from God, as the psalmist does. I've noticed how specific the thanks are in the Psalms. I appreciate this. It gives me more confidence in giving God credit for even the little things that are good. All of them.

The challenge today is to start a list of gifts received from God and others and continue it over the next month. Anything and everything that comes to mind. I'm just going to post my "starting" list.

Gifts from God: love, forgiveness, peace, His word, my husband, my child, family, the Church, friends, purpose, the ability to think/learn, change, beauty, creation, grass, fruit, sleep, life, rain, breezes, health, sunshine, physical body, senses, food, challenges, light, sleep, water, creative thought, color, passion, animals (dogs especially),

Gifts from others: love, friendship, forgiveness, examples, wisdom, time, encouragement, humor, chocolate, dessert, life, books, perspective, clothing, food, lessons, photos, blankets, sports, listening, comfort, insight, ideas,

This is definitely not an exhaustive list. However, I am sleepy and there are things to be done in our house. I must stop somewhere. As I typed these few things, I realized that I find this kind of list difficult because even the things that might be gifts from others are still gifts from God to me. I have difficulty separating it into two lists. I'm guessing that's kind of the point. To be thankful to God for all things, but still thankful to people too. I can do both for a single thing.

Thank you, God, for all of this and everything I haven't thought of yet too.

What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
