Day one hundred seventy: Today has been a special day. I stayed at home all day. It was just me and two dogs I am dogsitting. Ariel and our dogs are at my parents. Jason is at camp.
So it was just me.
All day.
I honestly can't remember the last time I had a day like this. It was definitely before Ariel was born, so at least a year and a half ago. I don't miss days like this. I don't even think about them really. However, I did enjoy my day.
Wanna know what I did? I slept in. I ate a yoplait delight (lemon torte) for breakfast. I watched Ellen. I ordered textbooks. I played with the dogs. I ate chips and salsa. I drank pepsi. I watched tv shows online. I played family feud on facebook. I ate yogurt with strawberry jam. I got the mail. I ate brown rice. I read blogs about going shampoo free, potty training, hair cuts, and marriage. I made freezer cookies (and ate some of them). I called my parents (a couple times) to make sure Ariel was doing great. She was. I organized and edited photos. I watched random tv shows without worrying if the volume was too loud and might wake Ariel. I ate a few handfuls of kettle corn. And next I'll go to sleep.
I don't care if I don't have another day like this for a while...at all. Though maybe portions of days or hours here and there would be nice. It was a lazy day. Nice and relaxing, but not how I want my life to be. I'm glad I have so much more than this. Grateful.
Thank you, God, for a relaxing day with no real responsibilities. Thank you for my parents helping me to have this day. Thank you for my husband and my daughter and our dogs and our house. Thank you for the life we share and my responsibilities. Thank you for the meaning and purpose in my life. Please use me.
What's this about? I decided on my birthday to make a commitment to being intentionally thankful. I challenged myself to post one thing I am thankful for everyday this year.
